  • 3995

The Business Administrator's Reference is the operational lookup companion to the Advanced Dungeons & Dynamics 365 documentation set. Unlike the Gamification Rules book, which teaches the theory, design rationale, and worked examples behind every system, this volume is the reference we keep open while running sessions, adjudicating checks, and configuring new adventures. Every section is rules content only — tables, formulas, roll charts, and canonical data — stripped of introductions, narrative overviews, and XP award sections. When the theory behind a rule matters, the Gamification Rules book provides it. When a specific number is needed right now, this volume delivers it without preamble.

Greta Ironfist did not build the Waterdeep Trading Company by pausing mid-session to re-read the design rationale. She kept her reference close and her decisions fast. This volume exists for the same reason: to support confident, accurate adjudication without interrupting the flow of the adventure.

What This Volume Covers

The Gamification Rules reference spans twenty-one modules drawn from the full gamification framework. Two modules — Adventure Structure and Genres, and the Learning Tree — are excluded from this volume because they serve guide authors and documentation architects rather than session administrators. What remains is the complete operational ruleset for running an Advanced Dungeons & Dynamics 365 session from first die roll to final XP award.

The progression modules establish the mathematical backbone of the system. The Experience Point System provides the full XP Calculation Framework — the five standard award categories, base XP ranges by lab and guide, complexity multipliers, and the lore integration bonus thresholds. The Adventure Tier System documents all five tiers with XP boundaries, RPG-to-business-role mappings, and structural additions available at each tier. Character Progression and Titles lists every progression milestone: the ten general titles by XP band, the seven specialist titles by functional area, and the threshold values that trigger advancement.

The mechanics modules cover the tools used to model uncertainty, evaluate decisions, and assess organizational strength. Dice Mechanics and Event Tables contains every roll table needed for uncertainty-driven sessions: the five foundational business dice scenarios, the nine-table manufacturing event system, and the response framework. The Business Alignment Framework presents the nine-position alignment grid in full, with operating style definitions, business intent categories, and the regional alignment distribution table for Faerûn. Business Ability Scores provides the complete six-stat reference: stat definitions, score-to-descriptor mappings, the derived metric formulas, and the modifier table used during session adjudication.

The world and commerce modules compile the canonical economic data governing every transaction on the Sword Coast. The Economy and Currency System covers the full currency hierarchy, the exchange rate table, the triangulation matrix, labor rate tiers, commodity pricing classifications, and regional modifiers. Trade Routes and Location Modifiers lists all seven route types, named passages with hazard ratings, location classifications, and XP multipliers. Commerce and Negotiation Mechanics documents the six-level pricing hierarchy, margin calculation methods, the dynamic pricing factor tables, and the five-phase negotiation encounter structure.

The social and content modules define the people, organizations, and challenges that populate the system. NPCs, Classes, and Encounter Rules catalogs all ten NPC business classes with difficulty scaling and complication rolls. Guilds, Factions, and Reputation maps the twelve guilds to their Dynamics 365 functional modules along with the rivalry and decay tables. Apprenticeship and Certification Mechanics covers all five certification types, mentoring frameworks, and the XP recognition model. The Conundrum System provides the three-phase investigation framework, the five difficulty tiers, and the scoring rubric. Industry Specialization Tracks lists all twelve industry sectors with mastery levels and sector XP multipliers. Items, Equipment, and Loot Tables catalogs the three standard loot tables and the item lifecycle from acquisition through retirement. Research Quests and Project Mechanics covers the five-phase quest lifecycle, the four funding models, and the royalty XP framework.

The operations and world reference modules anchor every process and calculation in documented standards. Quality and Compliance Event Tables contains all five quality event roll tables, the d20 compliance audit table, the severity classification grid, and the six named regulatory bodies. Communication and Workflow Lore maps all seven communication methods to their Dynamics 365 workflow equivalents along with the five approval workflow patterns. Sustainability and Ethical Scoring provides the six-level stewardship scale, the multifactor scoring breakdown, and the tiered reward structure. The World Codex compiles the canonical unit of measure hierarchy, the multi-currency model, the commodity classification taxonomy, and the address code standard. The Compact Coordinate System defines the CCS axis conventions, the three nested units of precision, the Gridstone broadcast network, and the ward-level coordinate table for Waterdeep.

Reading Order

This volume is organized in the same module sequence as the Gamification Rules book. It is not designed to be read in order. Use the table of contents to navigate to the relevant module, then use the section headings within each module to locate the specific table or formula required. Cross-references appear as section heading text in bold. Every table carries a TABLE: caption prefix for fast visual scanning.

Dice notation follows standard tabletop convention: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, and d100. Compound rolls use the standard notation: 2d6 (two six-sided dice summed) or 3d6+2 (three six-sided dice plus a flat modifier). Ability scores use the classic 3 to 18 scale and are abbreviated CAP, OPS, STA, PLN, CTR, and REP. Currency abbreviations follow the canonical hierarchy: cp copper, sp silver, gp gold, pp platinum, hm harbor moon.
