Book Club – TCOK Is Treatable

Posted by Author, Curator, Visually Impared Squirrel Literacy Advocate & Dynamics AX Technical Solution Professional (TSP) at Microsoft on

I don’t know about you all, but I have a common affliction called TCOK (The Curse Of Knowledge – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curse_of_knowledge). I expect everyone to know as much about something as I know, so I am always trying to make myself remember that a lot of the things that I show in demonstrations may be completely new to my audience, and I need to ratchet the explanations back a little so that customers and prospects can follow me.

If you want to see some great examples of this, check out the Common Craft website (www.commoncraft.com) because they have been creating videos that explain sometimes hard to explain things for years. Here are a few of her blog posts to start off with:

RSS Feeds In Plain English

Big Data In Plain English

The US Election Process

Also, two days ago they published their first book – The Art of Explanation, which I have been reading, and I thought that some of you all may be interested in checking it out:
