Perform Field Lookups Directly From Excel

The Dynamics AX Add-In for Excel is a great tool for downloading and updating data from Dynamics AX within a tool that everyone is familiar with. But not everyone is familiar with all of the valid values that are allowed for the fields. Don’t worry though the Excel Add-In has a nifty lookup function that allows you to find out what valid values are allowed.

No more searching for field values by trial and error.

How To Do It…

When accessing Dynamics AX data from Excel, select the filed that you want to look up on, and click on the Lookup button within the Data group on the Dynamics AX ribbon bar.

The Dynamics AX Add-In will then open up a dialog box with all of the valid values that you can enter into the field.

All you need to do is select the value, and then click on the OK button.
